“Our first collection is a beautiful expression that speaks to the bride who loves vintage dressing and wants something a little different than the traditional glitz and glam.”

Melissa Sweet rose to the top of the wedding world with her original designs. She was featured regularly in leading bridal and fashion publications and was recognized for dressing celebrities, including Guiliana Rancic , Beverly Mitchell and Kristin Smith . In 2010, she took a sabbatical to start a family in Costa Rica where she also founded Vida Autentica, a non-profit that helps nourish families and foster economic prosperity throughout the developing world by building greenhouses and funding organic agriculture education programs. This expansion is one of the most significant for David’s Bridal in recent years and will build upon our portfolio of designer collections, including designers Vera Wang , Oleg Cassini and Galina Signature,” says Bob Huth , President and CEO of David’s Bridal. “We are excited to offer another new and exciting opportunity to brides who have been longing for Melissa Sweet’s modern vintage style aesthetic.”

About Melissa Sweet After rising to the top of a legendary wedding design house, Melissa took a sabbatical in 2010 to start a family with her husband in Costa Rica. There, Melissa spent time connecting with a more sacred life: nurturing herself and her new family, becoming more in tune with her natural surroundings and finding inspiration through giving back to her community. Prior to launching Melissa Sweet for David’s Bridal, Melissa grew her bridal design house, Melissa Sweet Bridal, from a boutique label to a nationally revered brand. In 2005, Priscilla of Boston purchased Melissa Sweet Bridal, and she became the company’s Creative Director, overseeing the design development of the Melissa Sweet, Priscilla of Boston and Reverie labels. She studied at Parsons School of Design in New York and graduated from Bauder Fashion College.
